John Frame's one minute preview

One Minute Preview of Three Fragments from John Frame on Vimeo.

Last year at the Huntington Museum, I stumbled across a show by this remarkable sculptor and film maker. It has stuck with me since. The longer version of the unfinished film can be bought with a hand painted cover from the artist website and all proceeds will help finish the film.

In Consideration of Early Exits

No matter what you touch and you wish to know about, you end up in a sea of mystery. You see there’s no beginning or end, you can go back as far as you want, forward as far as you want, but you never got to it, it’s like the essence, it’s that right, it remains. This is the greatest damn thing about the universe. That we can know so much, recognize so much, dissect, do everything, and we can’t grasp it. And it’s meant to be that way, do y’know. And there’s where our reverence should come in. Before everything, the littlest thing as well as the greatest. The tiniest, the horseshit, as well as the angels, do y’know what I mean. It’s all mystery. All impenetrable, as it were, right?

Special guest

Practiced with Jonah Sacks today on cello and he will be joining us tomorrow. We are all in for a treat!

File under: Why do they have to be THAT dark?

There is a preview of tomorrow's show on Jim Sullivan's home on the digital range that includes some rambling from years ago as well as some muttering about what we are up to now. For some prime miserableness:

More Chinese Food

This Boston trip seems to be all about Chinese food, perhaps as a reaction to not having anything remotely good at home in the desert to represent this masterful cuisine! Last night was soup dumplings at midnight from the well considered Gourmet Dumpling and tonight the slightly more common steamed fennel and pork dumpling at Wang's in Somerville. The rockstar of the meal was the Garlic Spinach though!

Dave announced that he is not extreme but only has "on and off", as a by product of our meal.

There is a cartoon plastic frog in a window behind the cash register, with it's back to the kitchen.

Now, the only cure for the creeping post meal nap urge is espresso! That and practice!

Pictures are included!

Thalia Zedek Band and Drew O'Doherty, Monday 4 2013

A lovely night in TT's in Central Square, Cambridge, NA with our friends. Both bands sounded as good as I have heard them and it is a great start the series! We hope to up the fun next Monday the 11th with a WGC set!

China King, Boston

A terrific small capacity diner in Boston's Chinatown. Two meals in four days on this trip and a few times last May have this fresh and articulately flavored kitchen continues to surprise with the latest being squid with pickled mustard greens. But the menu has plenty of hidden gems to explore.
